Construction Noise at the Monte Carlo?

Has anyone stayed there lately or have direct information on whether the construction noise will keep a light sleeper from sleeping?

Thanks so much for your info. on this :-)

Construction Noise at the Monte Carlo?

You can find many answers to this question on this site- it has been discussed often. My husband and I stayed there in May-we have stayed there a few times since the construction project started.

Personally, the noise was not an issue for us at all. We stayed on the 32 floor and I just made sure we had a room facing the NYNY rollercoaster- I am generally a light sleeper (leftover habit from when my boys were babies many years ago)

The pool area is of course more open and there was some noise, but the music helped mask it and after awhile I didn%26#39;t even notice it much at all.

We are going back again late Oct and I am not concerned about the noise-we love the MC.

Of course the next answer you receive could say the exact opposite- each person has their own experience -some positive and some negative-

Good Luck! Jan

Construction Noise at the Monte Carlo?

Read my recent trip report...yes it was an issue with the room we were assigned. Be sure and be firm that you want room away from the noise of the construction.

psssssst Ducky... it%26#39;s their first post. You might want to link them to your trip report....

We stayed at the beginning of June and the noise did not bother us at all. We didn%26#39;t hear it from inside. Our room was in the 300 wing (closest to construction) but we were close to the elevators. You could hear it at the pool - but it really wasn%26#39;t bad. It became sort of background noise. The music did cover up the noise.

Oh thanks Low for catching that for me...ahem. I copied and pasted the day/night that we stayed in Monte Carlo. As I%26#39;ve stated since we returned, I am mad at myself for not being more assertive. When we walked into the room, we could hear/see the construction so should have asked to be moved immediately. So...that would be m suggestion, because others here on the forum have not heard or seen construction from their rooms and enjoyed their stays...

Fri-When we left downtown, we decided to go over to the Gold Coast and spent a couple hours there but still no luck. From there, we headed to the Monte Carlo to check-in, and this was the worst experience of our trip. The person at the desk was pretty short with me when I asked where we were to park, she asked twice if we wanted non-smoking like it was an effort to find a room for us, and when I tried to explain I had contacted the hotel manager concerning our anniversary, she told me they would not upgrade our room. She then said she was giving us a room overlooking the strip. I told her we preferred a quiet room and didn%26#39;t care about the view especially since the strip view was by the City Centre construction, and she informed me it was away from the noise...WRONG! We faced the construction and were right across from the Harley Davidson Cafe with some kind of really loud music. I should have asked to be moved the minute we walked into our room and heard the noise plus the voices of the couple in the room next to us, so it is my own fault for not calling at that moment. Anyway we decided it was our last night and to make the best of it, but around 1AM we heard screams from the room above us, drunks standing in the hall talking, voices from the strip below, and we slept maybe 2 hours total. We decided this was the worst hotel we%26#39;d ever stayed in other than the roach motel in Orlando about 10 years ago, and I would not recommend it to anyone who was interested in sleeping at night! I think due to the construction of City Centre, the lack of a garage, the flimsy construction of the building (little insulation between the walls and windows are very thin), and too much of a party crowd for us that it was not a fun way to spend our last night. I know others on the forum like the Monte Carlo, but it was a bad night for us so know we won%26#39;t be back there.

Sorry to piggy back your post chow, but what are they building on the strip?

I%26#39;ve seen it plenty on the polo towers webcam.

Thank you everyone for your advice and thoughts about the construction next door to the Monte Carlo. I believe they are building another hotel? It was the ';Boardwalk'; hotel next door that they are building on top of?

Apologies for asking about what appears to have been discussed at length previously. I did a search using only ';Monte Carlo'; as the perameters...I didn%26#39;t add the word ';construction';, which would have led me to previous posts about this. Doh! Newbie mistake :-)

ChowChow, the construction is for the CityCenter project. It%26#39;s a lot more than just one hotel.

Plan on the constrution noise for the next two years or more. And it will change continually.

By the same token, the Wynn is not immune either with the Encore and the Echelon Place will start up on the stardust site. Then they will implode the New Frontier sometime in the next 6 months.

at the Palazzo is nearing completion.

Sooner or later, the Trop will have major construction and even Circus Circus will have something starting in 6 months or so. Who knows if Harrahs will get started right in the center of the strip.

Wow! Thanks for the link Blagger. It looks amazing!
