Implosion early 2008 (no date yet)

Bye, Bye Frontier

I have many good memories from the Frontier. Their pool- one of the few old Vegas type pool with an actual deep end of more than 5 ft. Getting in at 3 am and watching the classic Desert Inn, across the street, being torn down from my hotel room window. Convincing my friends to stay with me in one of their Atrium suites because... hey $70 is an awesome rate for a suite. But only to find out the suite had a 70s- style on-the-floor 30-inch t.v. and the type of furniture i had last seen on Three%26#39;s Company- LOL! However, my friends were cool with this and did not complain until the front of our dresser fell off when I tried to pull it open and then the a/c in the atrium suites went out. Still, though, mgmt was very nice in that they gave us a replacement standard room and comped our dinner and drinks for that nite.

I%26#39;ll miss the ol%26#39; ';New Frontier';! And besides, and do remember, The Frontier was the first casino in Vegas Elvis ever appeared at. I think that after implosion, a statue of Big E should be erected!

Bye, Bye Frontier

I am going to miss the Sigma Derby. I guess I will have to go to MGM now. And, yes, that deep pool was nice at one time. So was the buffet. On Mondays they would have great rack of lamb- for under $10! There were so many people in line they had to hand out numbers and they would call them over the loudspeaker in the casino. They would also come around with clipboards to find you at the vp machines and ask if you wanted comps for dinner. You didn%26#39;t have to ask for them- they would find you and offer them to you. You were also entitled to two free nights a month ( at least I was). What I will miss most- those lucky 7 vp machines- full pay JOB that pay for 4 7s as if they were a straight flush. I can%26#39;t count how many Royals I hit on them- besides the 4 7s. I was hoping to get one more chance to play them :-( .This all occured during the 7 year strike. The picketers were out in front but I never really saw them because I had a car and I would park in back. Once the strike was settled, everything went downhill-fast. I almost wanted to cry when I went to play there in recent years- but I did go because of all those Royals! Those machines were very very good to me over the years. The last Royal I hit was in August.

They had such a great seafood buffet (my friends, who lived in Vegas in the 90%26#39;s, took me there alot). It was first opened when I was a kid in the 60%26#39;s and everyone was talking about it. I do remember, though, someone or another was always on strike there---just added to the local color.

Sigh. It%26#39;s all going, one by one.The last time I was in Vegas I went down the lower strip towards downtown, and then out on old Fremont and took as many pictures of the old wedding chapels and motels that I could. They probably won%26#39;t be around much longer.

*sigh*.....was hoping they would hold out until August so I could visit one more time. I went to the Frontier for the first time ever in January this year.....I wanted to visit and play at one of the older casinos on the strip and this was the one I picked. We had amazing luck on the slots...went again in May and had fantastic luck again. I know people have said the hotel part was not great, but I loved the casino. Buh bye Frontier! =(

We will be there July 8 -12 so I will make one final visit. Not that I was a regular, but on our first trip in 2002, it was where I got sooo excited because I actually won $50!! That got me hooked. I even have a picture of me standing in front of the hotel/casino with my 5 little $10 bills.

Mrs. G

man we arrive July 16 so we%26#39;ll miss it by a day.

There will be an auction, somebody better get the Sigma Derby for their basement.

I have had extremely good luck on the dollar machines. It was riot trying to carry three buckets of coins to the teller cage and they even still had the trays to hold the dollar coins.

If you get there before it closes, nail those three sizzling sevens machines.

We%26#39;ll be there from July 11-14 so one last visit is in order. I%26#39;ve only been to Vegas once before, and I spent a little time in the New Frontier one evening. It%26#39;ll be sad to see it go, only because it just has that ';old Vegas'; look to it that is quickly slipping away. I%26#39;m glad I%26#39;ll make it in time to spend a few bucks. Perhaps they%26#39;ll drop the limits and give awesome BJ rules for the last few days...

Frontier will be Auctioned off at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 26
