TR- Quick weekend 6/29-7/1

Stayed at Bill%26#39;s 6/29 and left July 1st. Report below.

TR- Quick weekend 6/29-7/1

Friday- got up at 3am, a little over anxious for the weekend. Last minute packing, one last check of TA, then off to work. 820p flight on SW, flight delayed ';5 '; minutes, but ended up 30 minutes, never an announcement, just the monitor showing it would be 5 minutes late. Arrived, Shuttles were a 15 minute wait before one would be there to load, went and got a cab. Did not mention about the tunnel, wanted to see what he would do. He was immediately in the lane that led to exit via Swenson. Drove like he was late for an appointment, got us there quickly and a $14.20 Fare.

Checked in at Bill%26#39;s a little slow some guy had credit cards that were being denied. Asked for a King Smoking facing the fountains like I had requested. All smoking rooms were taken so had to take no smoking. Told to open bathroom window and smoke in bathroom. Called wife%26#39;s cousin, sleeping said she get up in 40 minutes and meet us at the Flamingo casino, another cousin was at a show and would be there after the show. Went to the Flamingo and had a 10 minute wait for a 2-4 limit seat. Played til 130am, down $80. Found the wife and her kin folk, hung around them as they played slots and VP. Got to bed at 215am.

Saturday- woke at 545a to the sun light, got up for some headache relief. Decided to go for coffee. Told the wife if not back in 10 minutes would be at the Flamingo poker room. She said just shut the curtain she needed more sleep. Got to the poker room and open seat started playing at 610am. Recognized the guy from the night before, he said he never left, He was a talker and a beginner and was losing his shorts. I saw him buy 6 or $700 worth of chips over the period I sat at his table. A few more Brits that were well lit, one young guy wanted to keep playing like it was no limit and was aggravating the dealer and a few players. At about 130p the wife and her kin showed up wanting to get lunch and they wanted me to go. Since I was down $90, and hadn’t eaten since Wendy’s at the airport before the flight figured I better get some food. My new friend the all night gambler just went and got $200 more from the ATM and gave me his number said if I wanted to use his property in northern AZ to call him. I said I thought you were from Minnesota, he said he was. I asked him where did he live, because his ph# was the same area code as mine, turns out he lives about 15 miles from me. Went to Toby Keith’s, then walked to the Mirage to check out the room the one cousin and her husband got comped. Very nice room, on the 20th floor looking out to the Venetian. Nap time for every one so everyone said. Returned to our room at Bill’s, took a quick shower, grabbed $200 in Traveler’s checks and off we went. Stopped got a large coffee, and the wife one of the blended ice coffees and next thing I know I am back at the Flamingo poker room. It was like a magnet. One open seat, at 430p and my new friend was still there, and losing. Finally he lost his final $100 and called it quits. About 8pm I am down to less than $20 so I buy another $100, about 930p I get a real good hand. I flop a straight with 2 hearts. I have 10-6h so I am thinking please turn a 9h and I get a big payoff. It comes and another guy is betting me to the max. We capped out, then the river is no help. I lead out, he re-raises, I am thinking he has a big flush. Finally he gives up and calls. He is quick to show his cards A-Qh, I show mine and win plus $193 jackpot. About an hour later I have pocket K’s and flop a 3rd. every one folds after the flop when I bet, but one lady. So it is 2 newbies heads up. She was very hesitant to call my raise after the flop, so I am thinking about another K. 4th street was no use so I check afraid she will fold, she checks and the Final K turns up, I bet, she folds and I have a small pot but a $60 bonus.

I am now up to about $375, It is 10p, I could go to bed, but I started the beer at 830 when I felt hungry, and I had a good group of people, and this is VEGAS and I have to leave for the airport at 8am, what do I do?? I play badly and chase a few hands, lose with pocket 8’s, Aces, J’s, 2 AK off suit and one AQh. Finally at 1am I cash out what is left $210 and call it a night and a trip.

Sun- cab to airport, long lights and airport backup traffic takes it to a $15 fare.

Unpack do laundry, quick swim in the pool. Do a trip report, go to bed by 730p.

Final thoughts.

Bill’s was still a good deal for the location and the weekend rates. This room wasn’t as nice as the previous, clean but felt a little more dated

Poker – eventually I will learn more and fine tune my game, but I enjoy the play and the conversation with so many different people, that at times I don’t know when to fold them, when to walk away or when to run. I was there to have some fun and that’s what I did. Beer, fatigue and too much laughing and joking, makes you play a lot looser.

It is hard to cram a lot into a weekend, but I need more than about 8 hrs sleep on the weekend.

SW is terrible. But they have the better schedule to Vegas.

I think I want to try a new hotel, but I love the fact I can be from my room to the strip in about 3 minutes or less.

Beer should not be the dinner replacement.

I need to take a break before I start planning the October or November trip, but I probably won’t.

TR- Quick weekend 6/29-7/1

Wow....what are the odds you run into someone who lives so close to you?! Well, sounds like it was an up and down gambling weekend for you, but most importantly sounds like you had fun. How did your wife %26amp; family do on the slots?

man you have some stamina.I can do a late night, but you really went for it.I guess the saying ,who sleeps in Vegas is true.

Do you play much poker in AZ.?

Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself.

ps.I have a nephew living in Pheonix .

Thanks for posting.

CO-one of the cousins hit for $620 on a keno machine, she then went and bought a dress for $170. My frugal wife said she saw similar at Macy%26#39;s for $79, but at the Forum shops you pay more, I love my frugal wife hates to spend retail even at home, but I think she was giving the rest back. It was odd meeting people so close to me. The one guy that played so much, remembered me buy my wife. He said who was that hot lady you were with. I said my wife then he was all apologetic for commenting on her looks.

1st timer- I don%26#39;t play in AZ. As a beginner and the way I play, not knowing when to quit, I might head straight to divorce court if I get hooked here. Funny about stamina in Vegas. At home if I go too long with out something I get the shakes, but there never happened to me. I am paying for the lack of sleep now, but Wednesday is a holiday so I will get caught up that day.

I forgot to mention about Toby Keith%26#39;s. I wasn%26#39;t that impressed. It was loud, not a place to go to get caught up with people you haven%26#39;t seen for a while. The food was good and not too bad priced. I had a club sandwich, huge and good. The waitress seemed to have an attitude, which if I would have been buying the meal she would have struggled to get the full 20%. She acted bothered when asked to change the order, before she walked away. Acted bothered when I asked for a place setting when the hostess didn%26#39;t put enough for the 5 of us. Service was very slow. on a short weekend trip every minute was important to me and the place was about half full.

Wow, talk about a poker fiend..... seems like you spent the whole trip at that table!!! And I only read that you ate once???? wow!

Correct I ate once. I used sugar in my coffee, which I don%26#39;t at home, and when i thought about not eating I had a couple pepsi for the sugar and that helped, then in the evening I switched to Coronas and got my vitamin C.

I also forgot to mention about The Flamingo Poker room, Friday night I was disappointed in the cocktail service. Very very slow, understaffed. It took 45 minutes for the 1st drink, and one of the dealers was terrible. He missed the winning hand twice, showed cards twice. The players had to make the calls for him. Saturday was back to what I expected. I had good dealers that knew what they were doing and ran a good table. So in two trips I have played only at the Flamingo and have hit 3 high hand jackpots.

What a trip in a short period of time seems like you had a nice time thanks for sharing TR.

Lowrance I seen a programme on a travel show about Bellagio%26#39;s poker room .

At the high (and I mean high)rollers table they will bring meals from any restaurant on site to a table beside you,so you can eat and gamble at the same time.

Now to find the $250,000 buy -in. LOL LOL LOL

Great report Shrek. I am also a poker junkie. I first started playing 7 card stud about 15 years ago and have started playing hold-em about 8 years ago. I get to Vegas about 4-6 times a year and will be there starting July 23rd for 4 nights. I figure to play poker for 5-8 hours each day/night. I heard the Venetian has the best poker room (on allvegaspoker.com) so I will try it this time. Will be visiting the parents in Suprise, Az for the frist 3 nights of our vacation and then onto the Adult Disneyland!!! :)
