Yes, you%26#39;ll need an adaptor.
Make sure it%26#39;s a US adaptor, rather than one for continental Europe.
We%26#39;re at 120 volts AC.
You guys are at 220 volts AC.
So no, most things wouldn%26#39;t work here.
Might for a while.
Goof luck.

Check the transformer on your video camera and i-pod.
The i-pod should not be a problem as apple only make one type suitable for worldwide use.
The transformer on your camera should say 100/220v,50/60hz,which means it can be used worldwide.
The same applies to most phone chargers. Its all done with Zener diodes and such,to allow them to be used worldwide.
The adaptor will allow you plug a 3-pin sq plugtop into an american socket.
There are no electrical parts as such in the adaptor.
They are cheap and readily available. .
All you should need will be a plug adaptor from UK 3 pin to US 2 flat pin. The adaptor is not the same as the one required for mainland Europe.
As others have said, check the voltage range of the chargers. I would be very surprised if they aren%26#39;t 110 - 240 v.
I%26#39;ve charged up my camcorder, camera %26amp; mobile phone in Las Vegas but remember whatever you intend to charge up make sure you allow yourself plenty of time because everything seems to take forever to charge up in the USA.
