Total Ban on Smoking May Be Coming Soon

From the article:

';Given the gaming industry%26#39;s clout here, it%26#39;s unlikely that Silver State lawmakers would ever approve a smoking ban for casinos ';

Of course voters could decide to approve a ban for casinos but I don%26#39;t think most local residents honestly care that much about smoking in casinos. For obvious reasons, restaurants are a different story.

Total Ban on Smoking May Be Coming Soon

i%26#39;ve seen a few articles that say the same thing. i%26#39;ll keep my fingers crossed ;)

That would be wonderful. Smoking is disgusting.

that would be great

junior: i%26#39;ve heard that the only major resistance to the smoking ban from casinos is the fear that casinos on reservations wouldn%26#39;t have the same ban. if all casinos in the state are treated equally, then it shouldn%26#39;t make much of a difference in profits.

Funny, I read that article and got the distinct impression that a total ban on smoking is NOT coming soon.

As for the idea that casinos will be fine with a smoking ban as long as it%26#39;s statewide - The problem with this idea is that it%26#39;s naive to think Vegas casinos are competing with local Indian casinos. They aren%26#39;t. They%26#39;re competing with Atlantic City, Connecticut, and other places. If they ban smoking in Nevada, there are plenty of whales who will start going to AC or someplace else where they can smoke while they gamble - what is a plane flight to a whale?

I predict that you will not see a ban on smoking in LV casinos until it%26#39;s outlawed everywhere in the US. And I hope that day never comes. The last time the do-gooders tried to save us all from something, it was called Prohibition, and it created a violent crime empire that led to thousands of violent deaths. If you don%26#39;t like smoking, patronize casinos that have smoke-free areas and let the free market do its work.

Well said Stratton..I am a very light smoker but look out when I am in vegas..I turn into the marlboro man lol!!

Good Luck All!!

We%26#39;ll all be dead before Vegas turns non smoking in Casinos....

As long as cigarettes are legal, no changes will be made for casinos.

Nevada is a state tha prostitution is legal (as long as they pay taxes), so all those residents care is our $$$$$$$

Most of those people do not gamble and do not go into casinos, so why would they care?

Stratton beat me to it. Well put man.
