Dec. Trip for first timers

My mother is taking my dad to Vegas the first week of Dec. for a birthday present. I have been out 3 times and going back in Oct. But I have never been out in December. What kind of weather/crowds can they expect at that time?

Dec. Trip for first timers

If it%26#39;s before the 6th when the rodeo hits town, it shouldn%26#39;t be crowded. There will still be crowds but you won%26#39;t have to make dinner reservations weeks in advance, lines weren%26#39;t long for things. Weather can be cold or warm during the day, by warm I mean 60 something, cooler at night. We were there 2nd week of Dec last year, it was low 60%26#39;s during the day. I just wore slacks and sweaters, a light jacket at night or layers.

Dec. Trip for first timers

December is a relatively slow time in Vegas-unless you are going between the 6th and the 15th-when the rodeo is there. Of course, Vegas in never really slow. There will still be plenty of people on the strip.

Weather- The temps can vary a great deal in December. What happens one year has nothing to do with what happens the next year. The average high- around 60. But some years the highs made it into the 70s while other years the highs never made it out of the 40s. There is no way of predicting what the weather will be like so you should check a weather site just before going. It can get very cold at night. The best thing to do is bring clothes that can be layered- tops with long sleeves, mediumweight sweater and a lined jacket-so you will be prepared for any kind of weather.

regardless of if during the day its sunny and warm during or cold and snowing, which it sometimes does in Dec. I can guarantee that it will be cold and windy at night.

The rodeo (NFR) is a great time to visit Vegas, Vegas becomes something different than it is during the other 50 weeks of the year, and if you can get tickets to go one night even better. Im not a rodeo guy at all, but Ive been 3 or 4 times to the NFR and it is alot of fun.

The last time I was there when the rodeo was on, the downtown Casinos were jammed packed, but the strip seemed normal to me.

Beautiful walking weather otherwise.

Don%26#39;t know if this is the norm, just one experience.

But the cowboys I know from nearby Salinas, Ca spend most of their money riding and very little goes elsewhere!

The cowboys arent who the casinos are looking for its the fans that sell out the Thomas %26amp; Mack for 10 straight nights. Those fans drop a ton of money. On the flip side COMDEX has always been known for tightwads and the people relying on tips dont do as well.

I always went to Vegas the week before COMDEX in November. I remember people who worked in the casinos commenting on how they were not looking forward to that convention because the geeks were so stingy! And the prices of everything went up during that time! I wonder if it is still held somewhere or if it is not held at all?
