Sahara???

Hello

Can someone please tell me what they think about Sahara. The current offer available now is 3 nights + airfare from NYC, Dec 17-20, for $262.73 p.p.

First time. Please advise.

Sahara???

I doubt you will like it. Good deals can be found during that period, Vegas is slow then. Might try off the strip. The Orleans has rooms for $25 per night, and the rooms are nice and big.

Sahara???

Hi

Thank you for replying quickly. I would really like to stay on the strip. What about Tropicana?? Is it any good? Aladdin? These are my options. Aladdin being the most expensive, almost 375 p.p

Being your first time in Vegas, you might not like Sahara. It%26#39;s really further down the strip so not really within walking distance to most of the action on the strip. The time you%26#39;re going should have very good deals with hotels. We got a deal with TI around $70 avg a night which include upgraded room and 2 for 1 buffet. And yes, Aladdin would be a better choice than Sahara and a good location on the strip and nice hotel. Tropicana is better choice than Sahara also.

Hello

I will definitely avoid sahara then, so tropicana is good but aladdin is better?

I%26#39;ve never stayed in these hotels, but have visited all 3 of them. Tropicana is an older hotel compared to Aladdin. The Music Awards just this past week was held at the Aladdin. And actually, I think Aladdin will be changed to Planet Hollywood or something like that with the new owners in the a couple of months or next year. Both locations are definitely better than the location of Sahara and both hotels are nicer than the Sahara. I really like the theme of Aladdin and is a nice hotel. But if you want to save money, then stay at the Tropicana, which is fine also. I think Tropicana is close to NYNY and Luxor, which has a lot of activities during day/night.

If you can clarify what are your budgets and what exactly you are looking for it would be better for people to make well directed recommendations.

However, If your are looking for high-end STRIP hotels these are the places to stay:

1) Bellagio

2) Luxor

3) Ceasers

4) Mandalay bay

5) Paris

6) Alladin

7) Mirage

8) Venetian

9) MGM

(Not in any order)

The crowd tends toward a yuppie demographic to these places, but many downscale folks (like me !) come here to see how the other half lives !!!

The above-average hotels are these :

1) Monte Carlo

2) Ballys

3) Treasure Island

6) NY NY

The below average (by strip standard) are :

1) Stratosphere

2) Excalibur

3) Flemmingo

4) Imperial palace

5) Tropicana

6) Harrah

7) Stardust

8) San Remo

Absolute Dump (by strip standard):

1) Circus Circus

2) Sahara

3) New Frontier

4) Boardwalk

5) Westward Ho

6) Casino Royale

7) Barbary Coast

Not sure who this anirbanstays is, but I have to absolutely disagree with his/her assessment of the Strip hotels. For the most part, I agree with the High End and Above Average. But what is considered average? Without a baseline to compare, the list is totally subjective. The Sahara is a good place to stay at - its only real downfall is that it is so far North on the Strip.

If you get any feedback on Sahara would you please let me know. We have been to Vegas several times and are going again in April for a birthday party. We want to stay on the strip and I don%26#39;t want to pay $200. for a room. Both the Sahara and Riviera had good rates. I know they are one the end of the strip but the Sahara looked nice. Carol

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Sahara a couple of times.

Have also stayed at the Luxor, Venetian, Westward Ho, Boardwalk, Paris and the Imperial Palace.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Sahara - especially if you can get a room in the Tangiers Tower. They say all the rooms have been renovated, but the Tangiers just seems a little nicer. Plus they have individual HVAC controls. The rooms are typical Holiday Inn - definitely nothing to brag about but they are clean. Bathrooms aren%26#39;t big by any means. Being so far north on the Strip, there is not much by way of room views.

Check ins can be long, but what else is new!

Casino is nice. Decent lower limit games. Pretty good poker room. Small lounge with OK acts. Couple of decent shows. NASCAR area and Speed coaster are fun. Caravan coffee shop is good, but definitely avoid the buffet (breakfast is not bad and cheap). The Mexican restaurant is mediocre but the steakhouse is good.

Easy access from I-15 and I-95. Parking garage is close by, too. If the monorail is running, this would be a prime place to stay considering the rates.

If you are looking for glitz and amenities, this isn%26#39;t the place. If you are looking for a good place to stay for your buck, with a nostalgic touch of the old Vegas, you do worse.

JMHO and YMMV

Hi....My husband and I have been looking through the responses that are on this site.....most of the replies depend on point of view......personally, we feel that if your hotel has clean comfortable rooms with nice bathrooms, what else do you need. You%26#39;re not going to Vegas to sit in your room, if you%26#39;re like us, you want to explore and see everything you can. Even if you dont have to best hotel on the strip, you are still on the strip and can go everywhere !!!!!!! There are buses and trollies, and you can walk. On our last trip in April we walked to every hotel on the south strip, and had a great time.

The deal you are describing sounds great, and it INCLUDES airfare, where ever you stay you will have a great time.
