Luxor or Monte Carlo

Hello,

We%26#39;re planning a trip for my husband%26#39;s birthday in May 05, yeah we%26#39;re a little early :-)! Trying to decide between Luxor or Monte Carlo, hubby is leaning toward Luxor and the inclinators, haha! Any advise woud be helpful

Also any knowledge of the spas at either of these resorts?

My husband and I are thinking about booking some spa services and I%26#39;ve read that several resorts let you use their spa facilities before and after the treatments. When we stayed in Mexico last winter the spa areas were seperate for men and women so we spent the day at the spa and never saw each other, except once in passing, down the hallway!! Not very romantic for an anniversary trip! This was our first time at a spa and I was wondering if they are all that way?

Any spa recommendations at other resorts would be appreciated!

Or other resort recommendations at all. We have a while to decide on our location. We%26#39;ll be staying mid week for probably 4 days 3 nights. Traveling with another couple and are in the 30-40 age group and are looking for a decent hotel, not too expensive but would like it to have all the bells and whistles too: nice pool, nice rooms, spa, decent resturants as well as some lower priced grab and go food like deli or something. The more glitz and glamour the better. Don%26#39;t mind walking, since we like to eat and drink.

Thanks! Jessica

Luxor or Monte Carlo

I%26#39;ve stayed at both - and preferred the Luxor.

Whilst there%26#39;s not much wrong with the Monte Carlo - it%26#39;s just very dull. It does have a tram link to the Bellagio - but I think this is closed at present due to the new tower being built there.

The Luxor is definetly more fun - and is well connected to the other hotels at the south of the strip.

Also worth considering (in that price bracket) are Treasure Island and the MGM.

Also check out the prices at the Mirage - its usually a bit more money - but is a great hotel with good pool and spa.

Luxor or Monte Carlo

Hi

We%26#39;ve just returned this week from Las Vegas, we stayed at the Venetian and our friends stayed at the Luxor, the view of all 4 of us is that the Luxor is very ';gloomy'; %26amp; dark inside due to the darkened glass all over, also the angled view up to the rooms from inside the hotel really, really does look a bit of a concrete oddity (or mess), also from the outside in daylight the black glass is very dusty %26amp; dirty and detracts from the feeling of being somewhere special. We used the inclinator but to be honest when you%26#39;re inside it it is just the same as every other enclosed elevator you%26#39;ve ever been in, no new experience at all. I would also mention that the Luxor is right at the end of the strip and you have a longish walk, or bus/taxi to get anywhere, our daughter stayed next door at the Mandalay Bay in May and her view was that it felt unsafe to walk back from the strip after dark so she spent quite a lot on taxi%26#39;s. Our friends said the Luxor room facilities are very comfortable and the buffet excellent but they would definitely stay further up the strip if they went again.

If your budget will stand it stay at the Venetian, it%26#39;s out of this world, check out their website, other Tripadvisor correspondents have said if you catch them at the right time there are some bargains to be had.

Good luck %26amp; have a nice holiday anyway.

Jessica,

We have stayed at the Luxor and really enjoyed it. The inclinators are a big kick. The rooms are very nice, well kept and up to date. I have heard from other people that the tower rooms are much nicer than the pyramid. I would like to stay there again sometime. The location is good, you are right between the excalibur and Mandalay Bay. NYNY and MGM are not far away. The IMAX theatre is great, blue man group is not to be missed and the museum is pretty interesting. The only bad experience we had there was checking in. The lines were horendous. It took us over an hour. So if you do decide to stay there, try to get there early to check in. The pool area is very good.

I have never stayed at the Monte Carlo, nor have I set foot in there. I love to walk the strip and go through the hotels/casinos, but the Monte Carlo although it is on the strip sets back from the strip a bit. I know someone who stayed there, she said it was very nice, but nothing special.

Have fun in Vegas!!

Thanks to everyone.

I don%26#39;t really mind the location of the Luxor. Last year I stayed at San Remo and the walking to other resorts was not a big thing. We walked all the way down to Bellagio and back on night! It was quite a hike, but great scenery and people watching!

Hopefully by the time we go in May they%26#39;ll have the monorail up and running again!

Thanks again, Jesica

Hi.....I stayed at the Monte Carlo in April, it was my wedding night, we booked 2 months in advance and wanted a King bed with a view of the strip, they couldnt do it.

I found a neat site called Vegas4Visitors.com hubby and I are going next week and we booked our hotel from the rating this site gave, its great, the hotles are rated out of 100, and they tell you why they received the rating given...I would recommend it to everyone thinking of going to Vegas......Judy

Monte Carlo..has great view but thats about it..my hubby and I went their and they gave us a 2 bed room..WTF! Its just 2 of us! I love the Luxor but i think the Tower rooms are nicer and more bright than the Pyramid rooms..great restaurants..esp. Luxor Steakhouse. They also have Nathans hot dogs..Little Ceasers and so much to choose from..cheap to expensive /classy places to eat. Nice pool and spa. great nightlife and beautiful people stay here..about 75% at least.

I would go with Luxor Hotel.

If you are interested in some other place that is really wonderful and does not cost an

arm and a leg I would go for The Mirage or Treasure Island.

These are both excellent places and they both have a Monorail System so you do not

have to walk every place you go. The pool at the Mirage is excellent. Tropical Paradise.

See pictures at www.mirage.com or www.treasureisland.com

The rooms at the Mirage have recently been redone and are wonderful

Have Fun!!
