Hi,
As I mentioned in my previous post, my boyfriend and I are planning our VERY FIRST trip to Vegas in December. We are only planning to go for 4 days, as neither of us are big gamblers and we mostly want to go to look around at the different hotels and visit the different clubs at night. We have a trip planned to Mexico for May of 2005 so we are trying to save as much money as we can on our trip to Vegas. My friend who has been to Vegas before told me to stay at a hotel in ';new Vegas';. We are looking for something relatively cheap (definitely under $100 per night), but not a dump (as I%26#39;ve heard Circus Circus is). We are would like to stay somewhere that is on the main strip and where we are within walking distance of the nightlife so we can save our money from cab rides. We most likely will book through the hotel itself, as I%26#39;ve heard that booking through certain online travel sites aren%26#39;t very reliable.
Can you please help recommend some hotels for me?
I know people are constantly asking this same question, so if you could just leave a few one-liners about hotels you%26#39;d recommend, it would be much appreciated!
Erica =)
Please help me pick a hotel in ';new Vegas';
Start with MGM or NY/NY. Monte Carlo is nothing special but you will find a good deal (It actually is nice hotel and great location). Shop around because Dec will be off season and jeans weather. Many good deals will be available. Shoot for under $100 a night and I bet you come up with some good options. Have fun shopping for the deal!
Please help me pick a hotel in ';new Vegas';
Hey Erica..My husband and I have booked mid-December(before Christmas) at TI(Treasure Island) for 3 nights for a total of $238 including tax. This is their special Temptation Package which includes upgrade and 2 for 1 buffet. A great hotel and central to the strip. There is a club there called Tangerine. Also, TI is the home of Mystere-Cirque Du Soleil.
Thanks for the help.
**Can you tell me which site you booked through? Did you book through the hotel?
If you%26#39;re going on a weekend, the big resorts are way too overpriced. In this case, you should look into the Imperial Palace, which is in the center of the strip and the action. Another good place to look into would be the san remo. It is in a very good area and walking distance to everything. These would be my recomendation for a nice budget hotel in the middle of the action. If you%26#39;re willing to stay a couple blocks from the strip, you should look into the Tuscany suites. Very nice place and very affordable. You could walk to the strip from here, but it%26#39;s not a short walk (about two long blocks). The excalibur is usually pretty cheap too and is in an excellent area. I ewould recommend booking directly through the casino web sites, I found there to be a lot of internet special at their home websites. Good luck
Hi Erica..I booked through TI%26#39;s website. There is a picture where you can click on that says ';Promotions';. You can click on it, and most dates in December have the Temptation package with rates less than $100/a night. Also, it looks like TI%26#39;s hotel guests can get in free at Tangerine(from what this website mentions)....
Thanks for all your replies, your help has made vacation-searching much easier!!
I think I will definitley book directly through the resort%26#39;s website. It will probably be more secure that way and hopefully I can get some good deals!!

Erica - just want to give another vote of confidence for TI - great deals in December, and TI is a nice hotel - honestly one of my favorites in Vegas. Also, Hotwire has some pretty good deals on 5-star hotels in the off season - might be fun for one of the nights. And NY-NY is a good pick also - the rooms are fairly non-descript, but they do offer some good deals, and I love the casino...
Erica,
Location on the Strip is very important. You may want to look at a map, there is a pretty good one at Lasvegas.com, and see where the hotels are located. I like NY NY because it is on the corner near MGM, Tropicana and Excalibur (with Luxor and Mandalay Bay behind). We like to play downtown and the express bus stops at the Tropicanna. We also like NY NY because of their wonderful employees.
We have never stayed at TI but have played there and eaten there. Looks like a great place to stay. TI is located near the Migage, Ceasars etc. Again, I think location is important. It is quite a long walk between the casinos/hotels. It is great to walk the strip, lots to see and experience.
Wherever you end up staying have a great time. Also, consider getting a players club card at the casinos you play at. They will send you offers and even free rooms.

Thank you so much!! All of the advice is much appreciated!
You are going during the off season so there are many hotels offering deals. My suggestion is you go directly to the hotel website to get the best offer.
Some ex: Mirage-special $69 a nite. Must be booked by Sept 30.
Harrahs-$60 a nite.
Monte Carlo-$59 a nite.
There are more just keep on surfing.
Just remember Sunday thru Thursday are your cheapest rates. The weekends increase significantly.
Good Luck
