Reserving restaurants?

First time visitor as of next week - cant wait!!! Me and my girlfriend are staying 7 nights at TI, were wondering whether we can turn up to restaurants and get a table or should I book in advance, if in advance am I able to reserve a table online? and if so how long in advance? bear in mind I%26#39;m going next wednesday.

Reserving restaurants?

I would definately try and make reservations for 1 or 2 nights--you never know. You can try www.opentable.com

I%26#39;ve used them plenty of times and it%26#39;s easy!

Good luck and have fun!

Reserving restaurants?

If you are going next week then you should definitely make reservations to anywhere where you definitely want to eat. You may have left it too late for a lot of the more popular restaurants. I always make reservations well in advance. You can always cancel them if your plans change.

Some places do have online reservations. There should be a link to this on the restaurant%26#39;s website or the site of the hotel where it%26#39;s at. It%26#39;s often better to call them however as the times available when booking online aren%26#39;t necessarily all that%26#39;s available. The concierge at your hotel may be able to help also if you give them a call.

I used opentable.com to reserve at Delmonico%26#39;s 3 weeks in advance. I got a crappy time of 5:00 on a weekday. My husband called the restaurant directly and said he wanted a 6:30 reservation that same day, and they happily obliged. But I guess being overseas, it may be difficult to call the restaurant directly. Delmonico%26#39;s said they open their reservations book 6 months in advance. If you really want to try a restaurant, it is definitely best to book as soon as you can. Lots of people plan way in advance.

Folks, this is Vegas we are talking about! Money talks! If all else fails, fold up a Benjamin (or more or less depending on the restaurant), discreetly show it to the Maitre D, and many times your money will disappear, and a table suddenly become available. It helps if you are dressed appropriatly for the restaurant, and are quiet and discrete, not a loud mouth show off waiving the money around. If the Maitre D can%26#39;t accommodate you, he will discretely express his regrets, and nothing is lost. I have done this many times in Las Vegas, and have rarely been turned away.

Where will you be staying? Perhaps you can e-mail (or call) the concierge at your hotel and ask them to make your reservations. You will have to know where you want to dine plus dates and times. That way it can be taken care of through one contact by you. If you can work this, be sure to get the name of the person helping you, so you can reward them properly when you get to the hotel.

Have a great trip!

Camille

Thanks for your help! I tend to leave most things until the last minute so booking 6 months in advance is not an option! :-)

p_jay2001 - thanks for that bit of advice, will simply flashing a 100 dollar bill get me the table or is this as a tip/bribe?

I%26#39;m staying at the Treasure Island so I%26#39;ll be sure to drop them an email outlining my requests, I suppose it can%26#39;t do any harm thats for sure!

Regarding the tip or bribe issue, you could say that it%26#39;s a bit of both. The high end restaurants in Vegas invariably hold back tables in case high rollers want to eat there at next to no notice so there are often tables free at any given time. If you%26#39;re happy to walk into a place and give over $100 to secure a table that%26#39;s entirely your decision.

Regarding contacting the concierge at TI, I would call them rather than emailing. That way you can establish a personal relationship with whoever you speak to you and your chances of them getting you reservations at short notice will probably increase as a result. Also if they get what you%26#39;ve requested it%26#39;s a lot nicer for both parties when you go to tip them if you%26#39;ve spoken to them previously.

Phone calls to Vegas are not dear.Ring on Sat(allow time difference),have a list of restaurants and times and dates you want, and talk to the concierge at your hotel.

Have your hotel reservation number handy, and the concierge will know your name,e-mail address and dates of your stay on screen in front of her.

Ask for a confirmation e-mail,and hey presto its all done in 5 mins ,at a cost of less than 50 pence.

I have made them through Interval international, the hotel Conciar and by phone. Never had any problems. But if you want to have dinner at a great restaurant I would make them soon.
