Why do you expect FREE STUFF in Vegas

I have noticed that almost all of us either talk or ask about Free stuff in Vegas.

That Free stuff can be a free upgrade, or a cheap T Shirt. It doesn%26#39;t matter, as long as its free

Why do you expect that?

Why don%26#39;t you ask and expect Free stuff, when traveling to some other vacation spot?

Why do you expect FREE STUFF in Vegas

Because Vegas is known for giving out free stuff. A good portion of the people who go to bingo at the local casinos don%26#39;t even like bingo. They just want the free stuff like vibrating hairbrushes or a fancy sequined hat.

Why do you expect FREE STUFF in Vegas

Its hot in Vegas again. Free information.

Because they give me free stuff. Seriously though, reading up on comps and being on forums like this helped me get my expectations in order. I know that not everyone like Jean Scott, but reading a few chapters of one of her Frugal Gambler books would benefit more than a few people around her.

People get the word ';free'; confused with the word ';comp'; on this forum a lot.

I agree I get a lot of comp things but almost never are the ';free';.

Hey you can get a free $50 coffee at the slots ,first thing in the morning.

I think the Vegas of old did give away alot of stuff to get you to come back. And the really inexpensive things are gone for the most part too. But i think people used to get alot for very little, so maybe that mentality is still there?

you can get free stuff for selling your name, ie slot sign ups.

';Why don%26#39;t you ask and expect Free stuff, when traveling to some other vacation spot?';

That%26#39;s incorrect. People expect ';free'; upgrades at airlines either based on Elite status or frequent flyer miles, and upgrades at hotels all over the world also based on elite status and points.

People love ';buy one get one free'; deals at stores.

In other words, the appearance or illusion of getting something for nothing is a well established marketing technique to get people in the door.

I never expect anyting free. If I get a comp of some deck of cards or a cheapa$$ t-shirt that%26#39;s great , but if I even played $1 in a slot machine it still was not free, its a comp. When we check in, if the res desk asks us if we would like an upgraded room w/out a charge, we would say sure, but would not ask for it.

Shona;-)

As VegasDan said, I expect some freebies wherever I go, not only in Vegas. And I%26#39;m no where close to frugal. I just like free anything, like everyone else in the planet.
