Going to Vegas soon, had a few questions about the
new Planet Hollywood Casino. Is the construction finished
yet? How does it Look? Have you seen the pools?
I know it%26#39;s pretty new but any info will help me decide to
stay there or not. Thanks,
Steve
New Planet Hollywood ?
I%26#39;m staying there in 9 DAYS!! I was there last July and what construction there was then did not bother me. Room was big and quiet. The pool is very basic...... I only go for an hour or so a day perfect! Everything I have seen and read is that the new hotel is very nice and modern with a great vibe. I%26#39;ll do a TR when I get back if that helps.
New Planet Hollywood ?
I drove by the new PH last week and the front of the hotel is still being worked on. Looks like it will take them at least a couple of more months to finish.
the lobby is new, it%26#39;s kinda cool. I dont think they%26#39;ve redone the rooms yet. Miracle Mile is the same.
The casino and public areas look great. I stayed there Memorial Day weekend and really enjoyed it. Casino has all the newest slot machines.
Pool area is still terrible. No atmosphere, just a concrete hole in the ground with water in it. Plenty of chairs, no shade at all. A temporary bar is set up to one side and there is waitress service.
I agree with Diva21 about the pool. I stayed there when it was Aladdin (2003) and although the hotel was really nice and the standard room was really nice, (the bathroom was really nice!) the pool was awful. Two retangular holes in the concrete. If it wasn%26#39;t for the pool, I might%26#39;ve stayed there again.
If the pool isn%26#39;t that important to you, the hotel itself was really nice.

maybe they are doing the pool area over though... Like I said... my experience was from 2003!!!
Most of the construction in the common areas is complete. The room renovation are set to continue throughout the year.
I may be the only one who has no complaints about the two pools as there are of decent size and never crowded with too many swimmers. There is plenty of shade provided by the nearby Paris resort. The water is always refreshing albeit I%26#39;ve never been there in June-August, only in April,Sept and Oct.
The pools may not compare with Caesars etc but certainly meet my needs. There are two jacuzzis as well.
I don%26#39;t have complaints about the pools either - but that%26#39;s probably because pools aren%26#39;t the most important thing in a Vegas hotel to me. The PH pools serve their purpose, there%26#39;s water, and plenty of loungers. We%26#39;ve never had problems finding one, there%26#39;s adequate amounts of shade and sun, and it%26#39;s never overcrowded. For those looking for a whole day by the pool, probably not the best bet, but if you%26#39;re like me and want an hour or two of sun before you start the day, it%26#39;s more that sufficient.
As for PH as a whole, I%26#39;m very impressed with the changes. We stayed there last May in the height of renovations, again in February once much of the interior public spaces had been completed, and are staying there again in August. Personally I%26#39;m finding the prices unbeatable for location, amenities, etc. The new public areas look awesome and I can%26#39;t wait to see what they do to the rooms.
I just returned last night after a 4 night stay at Planet Hollywood. We were lucky enough to get a renovated room in the south tower. It was very nice - had a large flat screen tv, good size bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower. We did go to the pool once and we were disappointed. I%26#39;m glad to hear that they will be renovating the area. First of all, the pool bar isn%26#39;t particularly close to either of the pools and there are no waitresses coming around taking drink orders. Secondly, the pools were about as nice as anything you would find at a Holiday Inn. However, the trip to the pool got my husband a look at Pam Anderson. She was there with her two kids and her parents. Apparently it was her 40th birthday the next day and they were in town for the party.
I did like how they renovated the casino. My only pick with it is that they don%26#39;t have it marked as to how to get to the hotel elevators, so I wandered around the first couple of days every time I wanted to get back to my room.
