HELP!...supposed to be taking daughter for gymnastics meet

I would sooo much appreciate your advice.

My 13 year old daughter is scheduled to go to a gymnastics competition in Vegas in Feb. I have never been there. We will spend most of our time traveling between Circus Circus (I have no say in the hotel :() and the meet. If that is how we spend most of our time, along with hitting a few restaurants I%26#39;m sure, do you think she would be exposed to the typical ';sin city'; traits? I%26#39;m a mom who doesn%26#39;t even let her see most PG 13 movies these days! Thanks so much for your advice!

You will see alot of other families at Circus Circus. It is pretty much a kid/family oriented hotel. If you stay within the hotel/casino, you should be OK. I would advise against walking along the strip. There are guys who had out very inappropriate literature.

The resturants can be a problem if they are located in any of the casinos other than Circus-Circus. However Circus Circus is a very large place with many temptations for a teenager. It is like a fair or carnival, thousands of kids with lots of rides, attractions, and kiddy gambling. Stay off the strip and downtown.

Thank God, finally a parent with some sense! LOL

I think with your help and obvious love for your daughter, you guys will be fine. My aunt took me and her 2 boys to Circus Circus when I was 9 years old or so (yes about 10 years ago) and I had fun then! I think you guys will have fun and also stay safe, at least you realize it is ';sin city'; and you are not trying to expose her to so much.

Also why not go sightseeing OFF of the strip! There are some really nice spas at the Palms and Hardrock hotel (which are off of the strip) plus you can see the Grand Canyon, death valley ect, if you have a car. Otherwise, mother daughter stuff is always fun (some of my best trips were with my mom!), there are plenty of places for shopping. High end shopping at the Venetian and Bellagio and the Forum Mall, or scout out some of the many outlet shops.

As a mother of 6 children,

I would suggest do not let your daughter go of with her friends or even other friends Mums all parents as I have found out have different values .

If you stay with her and her friends ,has others have said a couple of hours at a SPA what fun SHOPPING and sights you guys will have a ball.

Just keep your eyes on her (some 13year old girls dress and look 16 my son is 13 and is a kicking dirt kid but the girls are something else about 7 years older at that ge )

Have fun

Hey Brats, I have a feeling that she will have her daughter glued to her side....LOL! But in Vegas that is actually not a bad thing.... not a bad thing at all!

We%26#39;ve brought our kids, ages 10-19 at the time, twice to Vegas, and they had a ball! There are so many attractions that both you and your daughter can enjoy, but be prepared to travel up and down the strip. Free (and very worthwhile) sites include the erupting volcano in front of Mirage during the evenings, and their massive aquarium behind the hotel check-in desks and the rainforest nearby are good, T.I.%26#39;s show on the street in front, the MGM lion shows daily, take her on the trams between Mirage and T.I., Monte Carlo and Caesars, Ballys and MGM, Luxor-Excalibur-Mandalay Bay, look inside the incredible Luxor Pyramid, white tigers at Mirage, follow the canals and gondoliers inside and out the Venetian, watch the spectacular dancing fountains at Bellagio, beautiful walks around Paris and NYNY, and these are all free!! My kids loved the rides ontop the Stratoshere and the Manhattan Express roller coaster at NYNY, best two rides, but not for the faint of heart! (This 40+ lady loved them too!) Just too much to see in a short trip, and my now 13 year old can%26#39;t wait to come back. Let her bring a disposable camera to record the incredible sites! Don%26#39;t worry, so much to see and it will wear you out, but a memorable time for both of you!

Thank you so much! You guys are all really really helpful and much appreciated!!Patty :)
