AA and flying

Hi, I will flying AA this time on my trip to Vegas. So has anyone flown AA? My previous flying experience is on Southwest, Northwest and AirTran. How does AA compare? Also I have always flown direct, but this time my flight out goes Indy to Dallas then on to vegas. I don%26#39;t trade planes so what happens? On the way back we go Vegas to Chicago and I do trade planes then do a rollercoaster ride into Indy. So any advise or comment?

AA and flying

I have always flown AA and have never run into any problems. AA is my first choice and then Southwest.

AA and flying

All the airlines are the same - I have had good and bad experiences with each.

Look at it this way - what difference does it make? You%26#39;re not going to change your flight now, are you? Do you really want to hear a bunch of horror stories and be dreading it, or conversely get glowing reports only to have your expectations dashed by a mediocre flight experience? Or more likely, get some strong positive and negative comments that balance out leaving you no more enlightened than you were before?

BTW, if you don%26#39;t have to change planes in Dallas you are flying ';direct';, you%26#39;re just not flying ';non-stop';. When the plane stops in Dallas you will most likely have the option of remaining in your seat or going out into the gate area to stretch your legs, use the facilities, or whatever. I recommend that you do get off the plane if only to get the blood flowing in your legs and walk around a bit. Then you board again along with the passengers that weren%26#39;t on the first leg of the flight and return to your same seat.

Hope that%26#39;s helpful.

The reason you are flying via Dallas %26amp; Chicago are those are AA hubs, flying direct means you stay on the same plane out of Dallas ,you are flying thru Chicago and changing planes means you are connecting.AA is not a bad airline i have been flying them for years to LA.

We just flew AA to and from Vegas non-stop out of St. Louis. My only complaint wasthat the movies they showed both ways were pathetic.

I guess they try to keep the movies G or at worst PG but they were terrible and just didn%26#39;t fit the demographics. We didn%26#39;t have one kid on our flight back from Vegas but the movie was suitable for 3 year olds!

My only other minor complaint would be that now that they sell snacks they don%26#39;t even give you a bag of pretzels.

Since AA is the largest airline in the country, I don%26#39;t think anyone has ever flown with them.

Boarding is different than cattle car carriers like SW. You have an assigned seat, so no need to push and shove to make it to the front of the line. First class gets to load first, then premium members, then they load from the back of the plane to the front.

Direct means you will stop, stay on the plane, (exit if you want to grab something) then continue to your destination about 40-minutes later.

Connecting means get off, and get on another plane, just like any other carrier.

Non stop means just that. You take off and land at your destination. For American if you depart from Dallas, LA, Chicago, or Miami you can fly any major city in the US or World non-stop, provided you are willing to pay the price.

The longer flight on AA usually have either movies or sit-coms to watch, along with a number of music channels. Depends on the plane. First and buisness class gets free wine, bubbly, beer, and a meal. Coach class get a free soft drink, and has to pay for a snack and booze.

One correction to this post. Most American Airlines flights now board by ';Groups'; which has nothing to do with what row your in. I don%26#39;t know what criteria puts you in your group. We were in Group 4 going to Vegas and in Group 5 coming back. There were only 6 groups. It may be price paid, FF miles, I%26#39;m sure it%26#39;s a combination of things. But it definetly didn%26#39;t have anything to do with what row you are in.

We flew AA out of St. Louis last march and also are doing so again this March. We love AA but last flight we had a plane change in Dallas and they only gave us 35 minutes to do so. Our flight was 18 minutes late in the first place so we missed out exchange. We had to wait 9 hours for the next flight and yea, we were mad!

AA after much complaining from me they ended up giving us $100 next flight coupons plus a free lunch. thus, the reason we are flying AA again in a few weeks. AA flights are usually on time or even early and are nice to Vegas. I did not know that they changed to now charging for snacks. Hopefully we are able to still get a softdrink, otherwise they will have a bunch of crabby people on board.

Have fun in Vegas, and leave some money in those machine for us!

As someone who lives in DFW, the airport is as good as any. Get off the plane and grab something to eat or drink. It s all over the concourse no matter what terminal you fly into. By the way, not knowing when you are flying, the weather here at the moment and for the foreseeable future is not good for any flight being on time. Forty days and forty nights and it still keeps coming. So do not despair, the AA pilots will get you there only when it is safe to do so.

Never had a problem with AA. Although, I liked them better when they had planes with ';extended'; leg room....

I never understood the ';group'; thing... I think they should just board from the back of the plan to the front... that way you don%26#39;t have to wrestle with people trying to maneuver their way to the back when everyone else is on the plane... just my opinion..
