Cashing out and social security number??

Just had an email from Las Vegas Advisor saying you need to prove your SS number to cash out. Does anyone know anything about this? Obviously being from the UK I don%26#39;t have a SS number (only a NI number) and wasn;t planning on having to bring proof of it with me.

Does anyone know anything about this or am I being wound up?

Cashing out and social security number??

Any SS number requirement would only apply to US residents. Non residents would only need to show government issued picture ID (passport or driver%26#39;s licence).

Cashing out and social security number??

As another UK traveller I%26#39;ve never yet had to provide any sort of ID when cashing out

ID requirements are for large amounts (those where tax issues come into play) only. This has always been the case irrespective of your nationality.

Don%26#39;t even think about gambling without ID on your person unless you want a LOT of unnecessary hassle if you%26#39;re lucky enough to win big.

So that means I have to carry my passport about? I%26#39;m not happy doing that, what if I lose it or it gets stolen?? Can%26#39;t get home then, or am going to have a hard time getting home.

Can any UK visitors who have been there recently confirm this?

Thanks Blagger, I don%26#39;t suppose you know the limit do you??? Really don%26#39;t feel comfortable carrying my passport and I don%26#39;t drive so no licence there

This site will explain what happens when a US citizen or someone from a foreign country wins in Las Vegas.

The tax threshold for slot winnings is (I think) $1200. I%26#39;m not certain what it is for table games.

kookie, from your forum name I%26#39;m guessing you may have been born in 1978 making you 29 years old. If that%26#39;s the case you shouldn%26#39;t even think about going out to casinos, bars or clubs in Vegas without ID. A lot of places will card you if you appear 30 or under.

slots -- 1199

table games -- do not have to claim... they can%26#39;t prove if you win 20 bucks or 20k bucks...

if you win a jackpot over 1199, they will hold for you at the cash cage until you bring your ID. So, that being said, I would leave your passport in your room safe and then if you hit it big, just go back to your room, get it and then go back to claim your prize... hope this helps

Really Blagger (about the 30 thing) I didn%26#39;t realise, ohh so I might get Id%26#39;d??? Cool, not been Id%26#39;d in years - still not happy about the passport thing though, might have to carry it in my bra pmsl, no one is gonna want to go there

kookie, in the US the penalties that bars and casinos face if anybody under 21 is caught drinking or gambling are extremely severe, so a much harder line is taken on checking IDs than is the case just about anywhere else in the world.
