There is a chance of a pilot strike with Delta - there is more info available online.

Just do a search for Delta pilot strike.

muff,

It is a very compicated situation. I will attempt to give a brief synopsis.

Delta is in bancrupty right now and they are trying to get their pilots to agree to a severe pay cut (after they already took one a year ago). Delta says the additional pay cut is needed to keep the airline afloat.

The court overseeing the process set a deadline of 4/15 for them to reach an agreement. If they do not do so, the court can throw out the pilots current contract and allow Delta to force the pay cuts. If the contract is thrown out, the pilots have said they will stike. Their union has already authorized the strike effective 4/17.

If the pilots do strike, the general consensus is that Delta will go under.

Most people in the ATL area seem to think some type of compromise will be reached. I certainly hope so.

I hope this helps explain things.

Irishfan: Thats the best news I have heard all day!!!!! Where did you read and or hear this information?

Happy easter!!!

its on deltas website

Here is the link to the news wire:

…cnn.com/2006/…

great news!!!!!

Associated Press - Delta Air Lines Inc. and its pilots union reached a tentative agreement Friday on pay and benefit cuts that could avert a strike at the nation%26#39;s third largest carrier and ease uncertainty among travelers over the busy Easter weekend.

But the pilots have yet to speak...

The labor leaders, recognizing the imminent demise of the company (and their un-cut high paying consultant positions), may have agreed to the terms, but the rank and file has not.

Good news, but final by no means.
